Dermal Fillers in Colombia — Hyaluronic Acid Placed Under Ultrasound

If your face looks tired, less defined, or has lost volume where it used to have it, hyaluronic acid can restore support without changing who you are. What matters is not the product — it is where it goes. I assess the anatomy with ultrasound before injecting, and I plan around the proportion of your whole face rather than treating one area in isolation. I see patients in Cartagena, and on scheduled dates in Bogotá and Medellín.

Hyaluronic acid can restore volume without changing your face

Over time some areas of the face lose support, volume and definition. Hyaluronic acid is a biocompatible, absorbable gel that restores that volume where it is missing: lips, tear troughs, cheeks, chin, folds and jawline.

It is a substance the body already produces, the result is visible from the first session, and it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you change your mind. Each area needs a different density of product, which is decided at the assessment.

Ultrasound-guided facial hyaluronic acid treatment in Cartagena, Colombia

What hyaluronic acid can do for you

Volume, definition and facial balance, planned with ultrasound.

Immediate result

Volume and definition visible from the first session, with mild swelling for a few days.

Reversible

Can be dissolved with hyaluronidase at any point if you are not happy with the result.

Biocompatible

A substance the body already produces. Low risk of rejection.

Versatile

Lips, tear troughs, cheeks, chin, folds and jawline — each with its own product density.

Ultrasound-guided

Real-time imaging of vessels and tissue planes, which lowers the risk of vascular complications.

Lasts 12–18 months

How long depends on the area treated, the product used and your own metabolism.

Which areas can be treated?

Every face needs something different. That is why the areas are chosen after the assessment, not from a list.

Lips

Volume, border definition and hydration, designed around the balance of your face.

Tear troughs

Correction of the tear trough and the hollow under the eye that makes you look tired.

Cheeks

Projection and definition of the cheekbones to restore the structure of the midface.

Nasolabial folds

Softens the folds running from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Chin

Projection and definition of the chin for a more balanced profile.

Jawline

Definition of the jaw angle for a more contoured lower third.

How your filler is placed, step by step

Every injection follows the same safety protocol, with ultrasound guidance.

1

Ultrasound assessment

Ultrasound scan of the area to map blood vessels, nerves and tissue planes before anything is injected.

2

A plan for your face

The type and density of hyaluronic acid is selected for each area, and the amount of product is set for the result you want.

3

Ultrasound-guided injection

Precise injection with real-time ultrasound, so the product goes into the correct plane. The result is visible immediately.

4

Result and follow-up

A check-up at 15 days reviews the result and adjusts volume or symmetry if needed.

Frequently asked questions about dermal fillers

The questions international patients ask most about facial fillers.

How much do dermal fillers cost in Colombia?

Dermal fillers in Colombia range from COP $800,000 to COP $2,500,000 per area, depending on the zone treated, the product and how many syringes are needed. The exact price is set at the assessment consultation. International patients can request the equivalent quote in US dollars before traveling.

Hyaluronic acid is one of the best-studied fillers in facial aesthetics: it is biocompatible, absorbable and reversible. That said, safety depends mostly on where it is placed and by whom. The serious complication is vascular occlusion — product blocking an artery — and it is why Dr. Vives maps the vessels with ultrasound before injecting rather than working from anatomical reference alone. No injectable procedure is risk-free, and any doctor who tells you otherwise is not being straight with you.

It depends on the area and the product: lips 6 to 12 months, tear troughs 9 to 12, cheeks, chin and jawline 12 to 18. Areas that move constantly absorb the product faster.

Most hyaluronic acid products contain lidocaine, and topical anesthetic is applied beforehand. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain. Using a cannula instead of a needle in some areas also reduces discomfort and bruising.

Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks the product down within 24 to 48 hours. Dr. Vives specializes in correcting fillers and dissolves under ultrasound guidance, so the enzyme goes where the product actually is instead of into the area at large.

Ultrasound lets Dr. Vives see the blood vessels, nerves and tissue planes of your face in real time — not where the textbook says they usually are — and follow the needle while injecting. That lowers the risk of vascular complications and confirms the product is distributed evenly on both sides. It also makes it possible to see filler from previous treatments before adding more.

Yes, and it is one of the most common combinations in facial aesthetics. They do different things: Botox relaxes the muscles that create expression lines, hyaluronic acid restores volume and definition. They are often done in the same session.

Yes. Dr. Vives is based in Cartagena, where he sees patients on a regular weekly schedule at his practice in Bocagrande. He also travels to Bogotá and Medellín on scheduled dates each month and sees patients at a partner clinic in each city, following the same assessment protocol.

Fillers are assessed and placed in the same visit in all three cities. Dr. Vives travels with his own ultrasound equipment, so the vessels and tissue planes are imaged before injecting wherever you are treated.

Because Bogotá and Medellín are consultation days rather than permanent offices, dates are confirmed before you travel. Request the next available date through the form and we will confirm the city and the date with you. If you are traveling from abroad, you can also start with an online consultation before booking your trip.
