How much do dermal fillers cost in Colombia?
Dermal fillers in Colombia range from COP $800,000 to COP $2,500,000 per area, depending on the zone treated, the product and how many syringes are needed. The exact price is set at the assessment consultation. International patients can request the equivalent quote in US dollars before traveling.
Is hyaluronic acid safe in the face?
Hyaluronic acid is one of the best-studied fillers in facial aesthetics: it is biocompatible, absorbable and reversible. That said, safety depends mostly on where it is placed and by whom. The serious complication is vascular occlusion — product blocking an artery — and it is why Dr. Vives maps the vessels with ultrasound before injecting rather than working from anatomical reference alone. No injectable procedure is risk-free, and any doctor who tells you otherwise is not being straight with you.
How long do dermal fillers last?
It depends on the area and the product: lips 6 to 12 months, tear troughs 9 to 12, cheeks, chin and jawline 12 to 18. Areas that move constantly absorb the product faster.
Does the injection hurt?
Most hyaluronic acid products contain lidocaine, and topical anesthetic is applied beforehand. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain. Using a cannula instead of a needle in some areas also reduces discomfort and bruising.
What if I do not like the result?
Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks the product down within 24 to 48 hours. Dr. Vives specializes in correcting fillers and dissolves under ultrasound guidance, so the enzyme goes where the product actually is instead of into the area at large.
