Exosome Hair Therapy in Colombia — Signaling at the Follicle
Exosomes are used here as part of a personalized hair protocol, not as a standalone cure. They are a newer option than PRP and the clinical evidence in hair loss is still building — anyone presenting them as proven and superior is ahead of the data. What is decided at the assessment is whether they fit your type and stage of hair loss at all. Cartagena, with consultation days in Bogotá and Medellín.

- WHAT THEY ARE
Biological signals that act on the follicle
Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles (30–150 nanometers) that cells use to communicate with each other. They carry growth factors, proteins and genetic material, and the rationale for using them in hair loss is that those signals may act on the follicle and its surrounding environment.
It is worth being straight about where this stands: exosome therapy for hair loss is promising and increasingly used, but the published evidence is smaller and more recent than for established treatments. It is offered here as part of a protocol, alongside options with a longer track record.
- HOW THEY ACT
How exosomes act on the scalp
Exosomes act at the cellular level, on the environment around the follicle.
Follicular signaling
Aims to act on follicles that have reduced their activity.
Blood supply
Supports the formation of new vessels around the follicle.
Anti-inflammatory effect
Targets the chronic scalp inflammation associated with hair loss.
Cell communication
Acts as messengers between cells in the follicular environment.
Concentrated signaling
Contains a high concentration of growth factors and signaling proteins.
A newer option
More recent than PRP, with a smaller but growing evidence base.
- STEP BY STEP
How your exosome treatment is done, step by step
A structured process in four stages.
Hair assessment
Full assessment of the type of hair loss and its stage. Scalp and follicular density are evaluated, and the pattern is documented for comparison.
Preparing the exosomes
The protocol is selected for what your scalp actually needs, based on the assessment.
Injection
Exosomes are injected into the scalp with a precise technique across the areas identified as affected.
Follow-up
A check-up at 4 to 6 weeks with comparative photographs, to evaluate the response and decide whether to continue.

- FAQ
Frequently asked questions about exosome hair therapy
The questions international patients ask most about exosome hair therapy.
What are hair exosomes?
Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles (30–150 nanometers) that carry growth factors and signaling molecules between cells. In hair treatment they are injected into the scalp with the aim of acting on the follicular environment.
How much does exosome hair therapy cost in Colombia?
The price of a session depends on the protocol and the area treated. The exact quote is given at the assessment consultation. International patients can request the equivalent in US dollars before traveling.
How many sessions do I need?
Typically 3 to 4 sessions, spaced according to the protocol. Whether to continue past the first sessions is decided on the documented response, not booked in advance.
Are exosomes better than PRP?
They are different, and the honest answer is that the comparison is not settled. Exosomes carry a higher concentration of signaling molecules than PRP and do not require drawing your blood; PRP has been studied for far longer and has a broader evidence base in hair loss. Which one fits you depends on your case — and any clinic telling you one is definitively superior is going beyond what the published evidence currently supports.
When will I see results?
First changes are usually noticed from around the second session onward, with the fuller picture at 3 to 6 months. Hair grows on its own schedule, and no injection changes that.
Can exosomes be combined with mesotherapy?
Yes. Exosomes and hair mesotherapy are frequently combined, and they act on different aspects of the same problem. The sequence is planned at the assessment.
Are there side effects?
The usual side effects are mild and local: tenderness, redness or small bruises on the scalp for a day or two. The more important point is that exosome products are a newer category with less regulatory history than established treatments, which is why they are used here within a supervised protocol, and why that context is discussed with you before you decide.
Can I see Dr. Vives in Bogotá or Medellín?
Yes. Dr. Vives is based in Cartagena, where he sees patients on a regular weekly schedule at his practice in Bocagrande. He also travels to Bogotá and Medellín on scheduled dates each month and sees patients at a partner clinic in each city, following the same assessment protocol.
Exosome sessions are performed in all three cities. Because the protocol runs across several sessions with photographic follow-up, it is planned around the confirmed consultation dates.
Because Bogotá and Medellín are consultation days rather than permanent offices, dates are confirmed before you travel. Request the next available date through the form and we will confirm the city and the date with you. If you are traveling from abroad, you can also start with an online consultation before booking your trip.
