Lip Fillers in Colombia — Natural Volume, Placed Under Ultrasound
If your lips have lost volume, look undefined, are uneven, or you simply want a subtle lift, hyaluronic acid can be a safe option when it is placed with clinical judgment. Before anything is injected I assess the anatomy of your lips, how they sit in proportion to the rest of your face, and the result you are after. The approach is medical and personalized: better volume, hydration, definition and symmetry, without changing the balance of your face. I see patients in Cartagena, and on scheduled dates in Bogotá and Medellín.

- WHAT IT IS
Lip filler with hyaluronic acid: volume, definition and hydration
Lip filler with hyaluronic acid is one of the most requested facial treatments there is. A biocompatible, absorbable gel is injected to add volume, define the lip border and Cupid’s bow, and improve hydration from the first session.
It takes 20 to 40 minutes. Most modern hyaluronic acids include lidocaine, so the area is numbed as the product goes in. Hyaluronic acid is a substance the body already produces, which makes it biocompatible — and it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you change your mind.
- BENEFITS
What lip filler can do for you
Natural volume, ultrasound guidance and a result designed for your lips and your face.
Natural results
Lips that look defined and in proportion, designed around the balance of your face.
Ultrasound guidance
The labial artery is visible throughout the procedure, which lowers the risk of vascular complications.
Reversible
Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase at any point. If you are not happy with it, it can be undone.
Immediate result
Lips look fuller and more defined right away. The final result shows at 7 to 10 days.
Deep hydration
Hyaluronic acid does more than add volume: it hydrates from within, improving texture and softness.
Lasts 6–12 months
How long depends on the product used and on your own metabolism.
- TREATMENT OPTIONS
What result are you looking for?
Lip filler is not one single procedure. The treatment is designed around what you actually want.
More volume
For thinner lips that want projection. Medium-density hyaluronic acid placed in the body of the lip.
Lip definition
Defines the border and Cupid’s bow without adding much volume. For a naturally sharper outline.
Lip hydration (lip glow)
Superficial micro-injections of fluid hyaluronic acid to hydrate and improve texture, without changing the shape.
Correcting asymmetry
Balances differences in volume or shape between the upper and lower lip. Millimeter precision.
Rejuvenation
Restores volume lost with age, softens the perioral lines and rehydrates the lips.
Correcting previous filler
If you have filler you are not happy with, it can be dissolved with ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase and redesigned.
- STEP BY STEP
How your lip filler is done, step by step
A four-step protocol: quick, controlled and precise.
Consultation and design
Dr. Vives assesses the proportion of your lips, your face and what you want. An ultrasound scan maps the labial artery and the vessels in the area.
Choosing the product
The type of hyaluronic acid is chosen for the goal — volume, definition or hydration — and the amount of product is set.
Ultrasound-guided placement
Topical anesthetic is applied and the hyaluronic acid is injected with a cannula or micro-needle, under real-time ultrasound so the vessels can be seen and avoided.
Result and follow-up
The result is immediate. A check-up between 7 and 15 days reviews how the product has settled and adjusts symmetry if needed.

- FAQ
Frequently asked questions about lip filler
The questions international patients ask most about lip filler with hyaluronic acid.
How much does lip filler cost in Colombia?
Lip filler in Colombia ranges from COP $800,000 to COP $2,000,000 depending on the treatment (definition, volume or hydration), the product used and how many syringes are needed. With Dr. Vives the exact price is set at the assessment consultation, where the plan is designed around your lips and your goals. International patients can request the equivalent quote in US dollars before traveling.
How long does hyaluronic acid last in the lips?
Between 6 and 12 months, depending on the product, the area treated and your metabolism. Lips move constantly, so filler tends to be absorbed faster there than elsewhere in the face. With regular maintenance the results hold longer.
Does lip filler hurt?
Topical anesthetic cream is applied 15 to 20 minutes beforehand, and most current hyaluronic acids contain lidocaine, which numbs the area during the injection. Most patients describe mild pressure rather than pain. The whole procedure takes 20 to 40 minutes.
Can lip filler be reversed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks the product down within 24 to 48 hours. Dr. Vives specializes in correcting fillers and dissolves under ultrasound guidance, so the enzyme goes where the product actually is rather than into the area at large.
When will I see the final result?
You will see a result immediately, though expect mild swelling for the first 48 to 72 hours. The final result shows at 7 to 10 days, once the swelling settles and the product integrates with the tissue. Dr. Vives schedules a follow-up to review it and adjust symmetry if needed.
What does ultrasound guidance add to lip filler?
Real-time ultrasound lets Dr. Vives see the upper and lower labial arteries during the injection. That matters because vascular occlusion — filler blocking an artery — is the most serious complication in lip treatments and can lead to tissue necrosis. Seeing where the vessels are, and where the product is going, lowers that risk substantially. It also confirms the filler is distributed evenly on both sides.
How many syringes do I need?
Most patients get a natural, balanced result with 0.5 to 1 syringe. Very thin lips or a more defined look may need up to 1.5. Dr. Vives works progressively on purpose: start conservative and add in a second session if you want more. That is what keeps lips from looking overfilled.
Can I see Dr. Vives in Bogotá or Medellín?
Yes. Dr. Vives is based in Cartagena, where he sees patients on a regular weekly schedule at his practice in Bocagrande. He also travels to Bogotá and Medellín on scheduled dates each month and sees patients at a partner clinic in each city, following the same assessment protocol.
Lip filler is assessed and treated in the same visit in all three cities. Follow-up at 7 to 10 days can be done online if you have already traveled home.
Because Bogotá and Medellín are consultation days rather than permanent offices, dates are confirmed before you travel. Request the next available date through the form and we will confirm the city and the date with you. If you are traveling from abroad, you can also start with an online consultation before booking your trip.
