- WHAT IT IS
What is the ultrasound health check?
It is a set of imaging studies, with no radiation and no needles, done on the same day, that answer specific questions about your circulation, your thyroid and your abdomen.
It is not an examination everyone should have, and that is worth saying up front. International screening guidance advises against routinely studying healthy people with no symptoms and no risk factors: looking without a reason finds small things that do not change treatment and do cause worry.
Where it does help: when you have at least one risk factor — age, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking or a family history — or when there is something mild you want cleared up. So the place to start is telling us about your case, and deciding from there what is worth looking at.
- THE ESSENTIALS
Six things worth knowing beforehand
What patients usually want to know before they book.
No radiation
Every one of the studies is done with ultrasound.
No needles
None of the five studies involves a puncture.
Fasting, for the abdominal one
Six to eight hours, and only for the abdominal study. The urinary one asks for the opposite: arriving with a full bladder.
All in one appointment
One trip instead of five.
The fifth, chosen for you
Breast or prostate. Not everyone has both.
Dr. Vives reads it
The same radiologist who takes the images writes the report.
- WHO IT IS FOR
Who does this health check make sense for?
For people with at least one of these, which is where the evidence supports more benefit. If you have none of them, it is worth talking before booking: it may not be what you need.
45 or older
Age on its own already changes the chance of finding something that matters.
High blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol
All three act directly on your arteries.
You smoke, or used to
Smoking now or in the past weighs on vascular risk.
Family history
Cardiovascular disease, stroke or thrombosis in the family.
Mild symptoms you want cleared up
Heavy legs, a lump in the neck, discomfort in the abdomen.
You already follow up and want to add to it
A picture that goes with your doctor, not one that replaces them.
- HOW IT WORKS
Your appointment, step by step
One visit. The only part that depends on you is arriving fasted.
We talk before booking
You arrive fasting
The studies, one after another
The result explained
What it includes
Five studies,
one appointment
Four core studies and a fifth chosen for your profile. Each answers a different question, and all are done the same day with the same doctor.

A carotid artery in long-axis view. It is one of the four core studies in the health check.
What you leave the visit with
- The result of each study, explained with the image in front of you.
- What is worth keeping an eye on and, above all, what requires nothing.
- A written report in digital format, ready for your treating physician.
- A clear conversation about what to do next.
Looks at the blood flow to the brain through the arteries of the neck, and at any plaque or narrowing.
How blood reaches the legs and how it returns. It helps with heaviness, swelling or varicose veins.
The size and structure of the gland, and whether there are nodules. Finding a small one is common and almost never changes anything.
Liver, gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas, spleen and the large vessels. This one needs the fast.
Breast in women, prostate in men. It is confirmed when you book; not everyone has both.
What this health check is NOT. It is not a cancer screening test and it does not stand in for your medical follow-up. Breast ultrasound complements mammography and does not replace it; prostate screening is decided by PSA and your urologist. And small findings with no clinical relevance are common: part of the job is telling you which ones require nothing at all, so you do not leave here more worried than you came in.

If you are traveling from outside Colombia
If you are coming from another country, this is the study that gives most per trip: five examinations settled in one appointment.
- Book from abroad through the form on this page, with no intermediaries.
- All on the same day, with the result explained before you leave.
- Time the fast around your appointment: six to eight hours without food.
- Bring your recent blood tests and any previous imaging.

- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions about the ultrasound health check
What patients ask most before their study.
How much does the health check cost?
It depends on which studies are included in your case, because not everyone needs all five. Tell us through the form on this page your age and your history and we will confirm the cost and the payment options.
What preparation do I need?
Six to eight hours of fasting, because of the abdominal study. The others need no preparation. You can drink water and, unless your doctor says otherwise, take your usual medication.
How long does the appointment take?
Longer than a single study, because several are done one after another. When you book we confirm the time based on which studies your case includes.
Does this replace my medical follow-up?
No. It adds to it, it does not stand in for it. It does not replace your treating physician, your blood tests, or the screening that applies to you by age. The report goes to your doctor, who reads it alongside everything else.
Is it useful for ruling out cancer?
It is not a cancer screening test and should not be understood as one. An ultrasound describes what it sees and points to whether something deserves a closer look; the diagnosis is established by other tests. Which screening applies to you by age — and that includes the breast and the prostate — is decided with your own doctor.
Why does the fifth study change with sex?
Because the organ being looked at is different: breast ultrasound in women, prostate ultrasound in men. Not everyone has both, and that choice is confirmed when you book.
What if I have no risk factors?
Then it is worth talking first. Looking without a specific reason tends to find small things that change nothing and do cause worry. We will tell you straight, even if it means not booking anything.
